7:00-7:59...............................Winds and drumline only (no colorguard) in your chairs in the band room. The focus is on the Star-Spangled Banner, On Wisconsin, the time-out tunes, Wanted Dead or Alive, Los Dos Bandidos, and Silverado.
8:00-9:09...............................Colorguard joins the band at 8 a.m. We march to the stadium and park-and-bark First-Down, The Star-Spangled Banner, Coda, On Wisconsin, Wanted Dead or Alive, and Los Dos Bandidos.
9:10-9:15..................................Stow instruments, guard equipment, drill charts, coordinates, lanyards, water bottles, Drillmasters, Crossovers, and/or StylePLUS shoes.

BIRTHDAY: A big happy birthday to Luke Seiler! Unfortunately, I forgot to wish him a happy birthday during rehearsal today. When you see him, wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
ILMEA LESSONS: Those of you auditioning for an ILMEA ensemble (jazz band, concert band, or orchestra), please select a 30 minute time once a week for a lesson. Lessons begin the week of Labor Day. Log into your RCCU1 account on your browser, and then click HERE.
CLICK TRACK: The third movement click track is in! Go to "STUDENT RESOURCES" then "SHEET MUSIC" followed by "2024 SHOW MUSIC AND DRILL" to find the recording.

Welcome Committee: I need volunteers to welcome the 8th Grade Band Students from RCMS and St. Joe on the Sept. 6th game from members of the leadership-committee. Please message me, if you are interested.
Saturday Practice You have Saturday off! Nice work today! Get some rest and relaxation; however, please also make sure to practice over the weekend! Three days is a long time to not touch your instruments/equipment. Review Wanted Dead or Alive and Silverado. Practice the music in sets, so that you know where the sets are musically. This will help considerably!
Playing Test #1 (DUE TODAY): Los Dos Bandidos memorization test on Schoology. You will record yourself using your Chromebook. Winds and percussion listen to the playing tracks through headphones. Your eyes must be closed. Colorguard may have their eyes open without headphones. This test is due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 30th.
Assignment #2: Winds and percussion, write in sets 28A-43A onto your sheet music for Silverado. This is due on Tuesday at 7 a.m. Colorguard, you are being graded on the guard work for On Wisconsin by Ms. Bogard on Thursday night. Those of you that did not complete the assignment, no worries! You can still submit the assignment for points. Please complete the assignment before Thursday.

2024 RCHS Bands Mattress Fundraiser: The mattress fundraiser informational meeting is on Tuesday, October 1 at 6 p.m. in the RCPAC. The fundraiser is in the auxiliary gym on Saturday, October 19th from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Click HERE for more details. This fundraiser is essential to help offset costs for the marching band, and for the winter guard.
RCHS Marching Tigers Drumline Fundraiser: Friday, September 20th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the RCHS circle drive. There will be a bake sale and t-shirt orders taken that night as well.
Just a reminder that doors are unlocked at the following times for weekday rehearsals:
- Band Room glass doors = 6:45 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Main Entrance (student parking) = 6:50 a.m. until 6:58 a.m.

We have four birthdays to announce today. Happy birthday throws go out to Brooke Weidner, Graham Patterson, Luke Seiler, and Marlee Andrews. We have a few weekend birthdays to announce as well. Tomorrow, happy birthday wishes go to Makayla Renfrow and Maya Cobix. On Sunday, we hope that Aliyah Hall has an awesome day.

Students and staff, due to your hard work this week you get this coming Monday off!!! Keep up the great work.
Students, do not use the north lot (back lot) to park. This is for our faculty and staff. Parking is permitted on the south side (by Joe’s Pizza), P Lot, and on the side of the roads. Every student should enter through the main entrance unless you are a bus rider.
There will be a Powderpuff meeting after announcements during OTA in the PAC for any junior or senior girl who is interested in playing. You must attend the meeting to play.
Freshman: Voting for class officers is open until the end of OTA today. Check your email for the link to vote.
Juniors - The PSAT/NMSQT test will be offered on October 30th. This optional test is a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Any interested Junior may sign up in the Student Services office. Cost is $18.00 cash or check. Deadline to register is next Thursday. No late registrations will be accepted.
If you purchased a 2024 Olnean Yearbook, please stop by the Yearbook room during OTE or after school any day this week to pick it up. If you are not sure if you purchased a yearbook, you can email Mrs. Rusk at [email protected].
Tiger good luck roars go to our Tiger Football squad as they travel to Taylorville for this season’s opening game. Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Make the trip if you can One Tiger Nation!!

This week's challenge: I set a challenge to each of you. Do well over the next two weeks, and I may cancel Saturday's practice. We have had really good practices, and a few not-so-good practices. The decision must be made tomorrow. I need everyone super focused and ready for Friday rehearsal. Do well, and you have Saturday off. We've got this!
Band Personal Time: The RCHS Bands staff has added an amendment to the use of personal time. Those that were present for the Saturday, August 24th practice received two-hours of band personal time. However, as I've already mentioned, one-third of the band was absent last Saturday. Most students said that they couldn't participate because they were out of town. As of August 26th going forward, I will deduct personal time for missing a weekend rehearsal, unless the reason falls within guidelines set by the RCHS Bands Handbook. For those with negative personal hours, you will not be able to take band personal time until you have a positive balance of personal hours. Any unexcused absences will impact the student's in-class work grade for that day. We believe this is the fairest approach to addressing attendance for Saturday rehearsals.

Lost your coordinates? Should you lose your coordinates, and lanyard, you will need to print your coordinates before the next rehearsal. I am happy to help out; however, you will have to meet me at 3:20 p.m. If you are able, I recommend printing on your own. We are no longer using the iPads when folks lose their coordinates. There will be binders you may use for a day-or-two.

Our Volleyball squads came up a little short at T-Town last night. Our Lady Tiger strikers did not go quietly however as they defeated T-Town in the first game 25 to 23. T-Town came back and took the next two. Tiger shout outs go to Taylor Bloomer and Savannah Cycholl as they had 2 aces a piece. Kaitlyn Dowty had 5 kills and 2 blocks, Taylor Bloomer had 15 assists, and Nora Stevens had 9 digs. Keep working hard Lady Tigers - success will find you!!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

This week's challenge: We have our last scheduled three-hour Saturday practice this weekend. If you recall from last week, I offered you all a challenge. Meet all of the objectives for the next two weeks and I will cancel the Saturday, August 31st rehearsal. We had a good start! We did very well Monday through Friday of last week. Unfortunately, we did not meet our objective Saturday (8/24), nor on Monday (8/26). There were two reasons for this: 1) We weren't 100% focused; & 2) Thirty-three percent of the band was absent from last Saturday's practice. We were only able to review sets 15A-26 without instruments. Nor did we run sets 1-15A with instruments as planned. That being said, I am an optimist. There is still time! Tuesday's rehearsal met most objectives. We have a few more rehearsals remaining this week. For those of you not present for last Saturday's rehearsal, learn your sets outside of practice. You need to catch up. Everyone in the band needs to double down for the next four days so that we can cancel Saturday's rehearsal. We've got this!
Band Personal Time: The RCHS Bands staff has added an amendment to the use of personal time. Those that were present for the Saturday, August 24th practice received two-hours of band personal time. However, as I've already mentioned, one-third of the band was absent last Saturday. Most students said that they couldn't participate because they were out of town. As of August 26th going forward, I will deduct personal time for missing a weekend rehearsal, unless the reason falls within guidelines set by the RCHS Bands Handbook. For those with negative personal hours, you will not be able to take band personal time until you have a positive balance of personal hours. Any unexcused absences will impact the student's in-class work grade for that day. We believe this is the fairest approach to addressing attendance for Saturday rehearsals.
Assignment #2: Winds and percussion, write in sets 28A-43A onto your sheet music for Silverado. This is due on Tuesday at 7 a.m. Colorguard, you are being graded on the guard work for On Wisconsin by Ms. Bogard on Thursday night. Those of you that did not complete the assignment, no worries! You can still submit the assignment for points. Please complete the assignment before Thursday.
Playing Test #1: Los Dos Bandidos memorization test on Schoology. You will record yourself using your Chromebook. Winds and percussion may listen to the music through headphones, but your eyes must be closed. Colorguard may have their eyes open without headphones. This test is due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 30th.
RCHS Marching Tigers Drumline Fundraiser: Friday, September 20th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the RCHS circle drive. There will be a bake sale and t-shirt orders taken that night as well.
2024 RCHS Bands Mattress Fundraiser: The mattress fundraiser informational meeting is on Tuesday, October 1 at 6 p.m. in the RCPAC. This fundraiser is essential to help offset costs for the marching band, and for the winter guard.
NEW TUNERS: The new tuners are in! Those of you with a blue tuner, turn your tuner in for a new red tuner today or tomorrow.
LUNCH: The music department is open for lunch this week.

Playing Test #1: Los Dos Bandidos memorization test on Schoology. You will record yourself using your Chromebook. Winds and percussion may listen to the music through headphones, but your eyes must be closed. Colorguard may have their eyes open without headphones. This test is due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 30th.
RCHS Marching Tigers Drumline Fundraiser: Friday, September 20th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the RCHS circle drive. There will be a bake sale and t-shirt orders taken that night as well.

Students, just a couple of reminders for you: First, please check your student email throughout the day. You will receive email from guidance, the office, and possibly other departments as well. 2nd, don’t forget to pick up your yearbooks. You can pick yours up anytime this week after school in the Yearbook room (located right outside the Library).
Any Freshman interested in running for class office must pick up a petition in the office, fill it out, and return it to Ms. Fehrenbacher or Mrs. Fleming by Friday.
The FFA back to school bash is tonight from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in the Ag room. If you have any questions, please contact an FFA advisor or a student representative. Flyers are also posted around the school.
There will be a meeting for all girls planning to play softball tomorrow during OTE in Coach Powell's classroom. The meeting will be brief but important if you are planning to play.

Parking passes are $25 and can be purchased in the Main Office. If you haven't bought one, you should not be parking in the student parking lot. We have started policing the lot for violators. The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) organization will have its kick-off party this evening from 6:30-8:00 pm. The party will consist of snacks, games, and tie dying t-shirts. Travel Club will have a meeting TODAY during OTE in Profe Marriott's room (Room 212). This is for those that are traveling to Spain, France and Italy this next summer. It will only take about 15 minutes and is very important that you attend.
Eleven seniors at Richland County High School earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Program. In order to qualify for the program, students had to earn a GPA of B+ or higher and score in the top 10% of PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test assessment takers in the State of Illinois. Tiger roars go out to myself (Brayden Beard), Karlee Bissey, Ainsley Doris, Malcom McKinney, August Michels, Quinn Patterson, Addison Ridgely, Victoria Rudolphi, Mckenna Snider, and Aidan Weidner. Briar Fore was an awardee in the First-Generation Recognition Program. We need these students to report to the commons area for a picture after announcements.
If any freshman is interested in purchasing a 2023-24 middle school yearbook, we have a few in the high school office. They are $20.
Our Tiger golf squad was in action yesterday. Tiger pats on the back go out to Ayden Nealis and Reese Glover as they tied for 1st place with rounds of 39. Carsyn Ameter claimed 8th place with a score of 45. Carter Blank took 12th place with a 9 hole score of 49.

7:00-7:19...............................Winds, drumline, and colorguard march in Parade Block A to the field, stretch, and run a lap.
7:20-7:34................................Marching fundamentals on the practice field
7:35-8:29................................Learn sets 23-26 (without instruments)
8:30-8:54................................Review sets 15A-23 (with instruments)
8:55-9:04................................Run sets 1-23 (without instruments)
9:05-9:09.................................March in Parade Block A back to the school
9:10-9:15..................................Stow instruments, guard equipment, drill charts, coordinates, lanyards, water bottles, Drillmasters, Crossovers, and/or StylePLUS shoes.

THURSDAY (8/22): Memorized warm-ups, Los Dos Bandidos, Wanted Dead or Alive, & Silverado. Review sets 1-26 (with instruments).

7:00-7:39...............................Winds and drumline only (no colorguard) in your chairs in the band room. You need your tuners, Inside the Circle book, and show music. Our primary focus is memorizing Silverado.
7:40-7:44...............................Put away tuners, and music, before making your way (carefully avoiding buses) to the grass on the circle drive.
7:45-7:59...............................Rehearse Full Volume, Los Dos Bandidos, & Wanted Dead or Alive in a circle.
8:00-8:04...............................Colorguard joins the band. Parade Block B (not A) to the practice field. No tuners or music!
8:05-9:04................................Review 1-26 (starting out with no instruments. May add instruments at the end)
9:05-9:09.................................March in Parade Block B back to the school
9:10-9:15..................................Stow instruments, guard equipment, drill charts, coordinates, lanyards, water bottles, Drillmasters, Crossovers, and/or StylePLUS shoes.

6:00-8:00................................Colorguard only evening rehearsal. The colorguard is exempt from 7:00-7:59 rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

2027 Florida Trip Meeting: The Disney World, Universal Studios, and Cocoa Beach trip meeting on Thursday, September 5th at 6 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center
2024 RCHS Bands Mattress Fundrasier: The mattress fundraiser informational meeting is on Tuesday, October 1 at 6 p.m. in the RCPAC. This fundraiser is essential to help offset costs for the marching band, and for the winter guard.
Please grab your flip folder and lyre, and put those items in your locker.
The music department is open for lunch this week.

UPDATED MEETING DATES/TIMES WITH MRS. DEIMEL (3:15 P.M.):

Please pay your band fees, and for apparel orders. For the band to pay our financial obligations, outstanding balances need to be paid this week.
Lawrenceville vs. Richland County Home Varsity Football Game on September 13, 2024 <added to the calendar on August 19th. Was not originally included on the performance calendar.
Lost your coordinates? Should you lose your coordinates, and lanyard, you will need to print your coordinates before the next rehearsal. I am happy to help out; however, you will have to meet me at 3:20 p.m. If you are able, I recommend printing on your own. We are no longer using the iPads when folks lose their coordinates. There will be binders you may use for a day-or-two.
Band Personal Time (BPT) Spreadsheet: For those of you that have earned band personal time, you may find the spreadsheet on www.rchsbands.net under "Student Resources". Feel free to use that time as needed. However, there are times that you can not use BPT:

You will still need to bring your water canteen/cooler to practices, competitions, and games. Keep them full. You don't need sunblock for the 7:00-9:15 a.m. rehearsals. That being said, I recommend wearing sunblock for games (at least your neck and face), Saturday morning rehearsals, and for competitions.
If you do not have a way to get to the school for 7 a.m. rehearsals, please message me this weekend. We will find a ride for you; whether it be a parent, or an upper clansmen. All I need is a note, a message, or an email from your parent/guardian that it is okay for you to ride with someone else. We do this every season for every practice. Marching Tigers are always here for each other!
Just a reminder that doors are unlocked at the following times for weekday rehearsals:
- Band Room glass doors = 6:45 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Main Entrance (student parking) = 6:50 a.m. until 6:58 a.m.

Attention Freshmen, yearbooks will be distributed during lunch today in the commons area.
Students, just a reminder that you should not be on the 2nd floor until the 7:50 AM bell.
Freshmen! If you are interested in running for a Class Officer Student Council position, you must attend the mandatory meeting this Thursday during OTA in Room 122. You must attend this meeting to receive a petition to run for office. If you cannot attend you must contact Ms. Fehrenbacher (the math teacher).
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) organization will have its kick-off party this Thursday from 6:30-8:00 pm. The party will consist of snacks, games, and tie dying t-shirts. Please meet in the grassy area by the bus circle drive. If you are interested in joining FBLA or learning more about FBLA, please join us!
We have started up the GRIT winners again for this fall! The following students need to find Mrs. VanDyke in the commons area after announcements:Tiger pats on the back go to Katelyn Bookhout, Jordan Piercefield, Brayden Jenner, Amelie Knoche, Mariah Livingston, Davian Grimes, Mallory Kocher and Tristen Butler.
Tiger roars go out to our Tiger golf squad as they finished in first place out of 11 teams yesterday at Robinson. Tiger shout outs go to Reese Glover as he took top honors with a 2 under round of 70. Ayden Nealis placed 3rd with a score of 76. Carter Blank took 18th place with a score of 87. Carsyn Ameter claimed 23rd place with a round of 89.
Tiger good luck wishes go to our Lady Tiger golf squad as they are on the road to Casey Westfield this afternoon.
Today is a great day for Mr. Houchin as he turns another year older. Please make sure to stop past and wish Mr. Houchin Happy Birthday today! Thanks for all you do at RCHS
