Ladies & gents, we started off a bit rocky this morning, but you ended strong! Thank you for the hard work! THE SECOND MOVEMENT IS ON THE FIELD!!!
For those of you that were not at today's (8/14) rehearsal, you have homework before Tuesday's rehearsal. Print off your coordinate and a drill chart, and start working on the second movement (This Is Me). I know you can't fully learn the drill by practicing by yourself, but at the very least you can learn how many counts there are between the sets, and in what direction you need to go. We are pushing forward, so it is on you to catch up. We have learned sets 13A-22A.
Everyone, your first written assignment is to mark your music to This Is Me with the sets. This is due Thursday at 7am. For instance...
The trick is to remember that you need to mark the set AT THE END of your counts, not the beginning. It takes 16 counts to get from set (or picture) 14 to set (or picture) 15. Because of this, the band does not take the shape of what you see on set 15 until measure 8, beat 4. If this confuses you, please see Mr. Jones.
Help your parents get in the loop: Many parents, especially parents of freshmen, are new to this whole marching band thing. That's okay! That being said, there are a lot of moving parts, and we want parents to be "in-the-know". Students, show your parents the following web page (https://www.rchsbands.net/2021-season-information.html). I know the video is not the most exciting thing in the wold. In fact, it might even put the master of movies (Mr. Ryden) to sleep! However, it is important that parents watch the video so that they are in the loop when it comes to all things Marching Tigers.
That's all I've got! Get some rest this weekend. Be ready to hit the ground running on Tuesday at 7am! Here is your schedule from this point forward:
