Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive. - Elbert Hubbard
Today was your last 7 am rehearsal! For the remainder of this term, marching band rehearsals will start at 8 am.

We have three performances between now and Saturday. Those performances are the Homecoming Parade (today), the Homecoming Game (tomorrow), & the Preview of Champions competition (Saturday). This afternoon, you need your flip folders & lyres. Your fifth block teachers are aware that you will not be in class, but are instead going straight to the rehearsal hall at the end of lunch. Your schedule is as follows:

12:55 pm.......meet in the rehearsal hall
12:57 pm.......move to the gym
1:05 pm.........time-out tunes as the students enter the gym
1:10 pm.........PEP ASSEMBLY (band on the upper deck. drumline on gym floor - Time-Out Tunes, School Song, Holiday & Cadences)

2:00 pm.........Parade to RCMS & RCES
3:00 pm.........Return to RCHS
& dismiss

We may well need a pop up tent tomorrow for the sound system. If your family has one, and would be willing to let us use it, please shoot me a message.

Take a moment tonight to check to make sure you have everything that you need for Saturday's competition. If any part of your uniform is wet after tomorrow's game (either from sweat or from rain) make sure to let it dry over night. Just keep the items in a place where you won't forget them.

Make sure to eat healthy today and tomorrow. Drink plenty of fluids. Get a good night's sleep. I will see you all in a little while!

(For the record, I am digging the extreme spirit wear!)

MARCHING TIGERS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  1. I had hoped that the musician earplugs would be in today, but they are not. I have been assured that the earplugs will be in on Thursday of next week. You will have them for basketball band. I had hoped to have these several weeks ago. If you would rather have a refund, please let me know.
  2. Expect rain for at the homecoming game. Plan on reporting to the rehearsal hall at 5:15 pm. If something changes, I will send you a message on Remind101. https://www.rchsbands.net/announcements--itineraries/2019-football-games-schedule-details
  3. 2019-2020 ILMEA District 5 Auditions: https://www.rchsbands.net/announcements--itineraries/2019-2020-ilmea-auditions
  4. Bring in all instruments that belong to RCHS Bands for an inventory next week.
  5. Order your 2019 Show Shirts on Google Classroom. Please direct any questions to Mrs. Deimel. You may find the form by visiting the following link: https://classroom.google.com/c/NDA5NTE1NTUyMTha/a/NDQ3MTgwODUwODBa/details
  6. Student leadership auditions on Tuesday, October 15th. Visit the following URL for the registration form: https://forms.gle/3SRbMB3rcrWCdFnS6forms.gle/3SRbMB3rcrWCdFnS6
  7. Audition for Honors Wind Ensemble starts Tuesday, October 15th
  8. Unpaid student debt to RCHS Bands is $2,637.32. Please take advantage of the fundraiser. We are making progress!
  9. Bus assignments are listed at the bottom of this post.
  10. This week is the last week for 7 am rehearsals! Starting next week, we start at 8 am.
  11. Spend-a-Day with the Eastern Illinois University Music Department. This event caters to predominantly seniors. Neither Mr. Weitkamp or Mr. Jones are attending this event. Students are responsible for transportation and letting the office know that you are visiting a college for the day. https://www.eiu.edu/music/Event_Spend_a_Day.phpwww.eiu.edu/music/Event_Spend_a_Day.php
  12. Fun fact: Over 75% of people who read this will try to lick their elbow.

8 AM SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

We have some birthdays to celebrate today.  Happy Birthday to David Bergbower and Shan Wilkins.

And now a few announcements for today:

Homecoming - Congrats to the Senior Girls on the win in the Powder Puff game last night.  Today we have the pep session and then the parade. After lunch, students should not park in front of the gym, in the lot across from the gym, or anywhere on Jefferson.

Thank you and have a great day at RCHS!
