The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. - Vince Lombardi

Overall, we had a good week. As we discussed in class, the focus and intent is present at rehearsals. Rarely did the staff have to address talking out-of-turn, or lack of focus. Thank you!

However, many of us are still coming up short on individual preparation. There have been noticeable improvements when the band performs Chopstix. That being said, some of you have not turned in your homework. Some of you are trying to fake your way through Chopstix and it is obvious. The audience will notice. The judges will notice. The good news is that there is still time!

Take the time tonight to make sure you have done your homework. Let's put on three good performances tomorrow!

As Mr. Vaal said this morning, we need everyone "ALL IN!"

  • Forecast includes intervals of clouds and sun, with a high of 90 degrees Saturday. Bring your water coolers and drink lots of water! Water is available from the Boosters at Newton & Robinson. Students provide their own water for the Arts Festival and bus rides.
  • If you are interested in auditioning for the 2019-2020 HONORS WIND ENSEMBLE, please send me a message on Remind101.
  • Unpaid student debt to RCHS Bands went from $3,600.68 to $2,803.52 this week.
  • Go through your packing list tonight so that you don't forget anything for tomorrow!
  • Fun fact: In 2017, more people were killed from injuries caused by taking a selfie than by shark attacks.

8 AM SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

We have some birthdays to celebrate today.  Happy Birthday to (Saturday) Emmalyn Angle, Gavin Harmon, Logan Martin, and Sydney Scherer.  .

And now a few announcements for today:

Junior and Senior boys wanting to play in the volleyball game during Homecoming week need to sign up and turn in permission slips very soon. Currently, the Seniors will automatically win because the Juniors don't have enough players. Sign up sheets and permission slips are on the counter in the high school office.

Fall sports results and schedule for the week:
  • In Volleyball last night, the varsity lost a close battle with Edwards County in 3 games.  They would like to thank all that attended the match and the Richland County HOPE fundraiser that took place in conjunction with the match.
  • In Girls Tennis last night, the Lady Tigers got back on track with a 9-0 win over Effingham.
  • In Golf, the boys team defeated Fairfield and NCOE.  Zach Duenas was the match medalist shooting a 37. The girls team also beat Fairfield.  Match medalist for them was Madeline McKinney who shot a 39 which is her career low score.
  • Tonight we have Boys Golf at the Charleston Tourney and the Football team travels to Marshal.
Thank you and have a great day at RCHS!
