Graduation was officially set for Sunday, May 19 at 3:00 p.m. at last night’s board meeting. As of now, the last regular day of attendance for seniors is anticipated to be Tuesday, May 14 with final exams being given to seniors who are not exempt on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.
Given that the Honors Wind Ensemble & the Jazz Combo (+friends) performed at the SAXational: The Next Generation concert on February 11th, that the Symphonic Band performs at the Lincoln Trail Band Festival on Thursday, March 7th, that members of the Honors Wind Ensemble are preparing for IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday, March 2nd, and that the basketball band performs in Peoria for the IHSA State Boys Basketball tournament on Saturday, March 9th, I have elected to cancel the Sliva Concert this year. We are simply running short on rehearsal time.
Thank you in advance for your understanding. The next concert is the Spring Concert, which will be held in the Sliva Auditorium on Sunday, April 28th at 3 pm. This band festival was formed to afford the students an opportunity to perform in a concert band consisting of only high school student-musicians of the Little Illini Conference, under the direction of a guest conductor. We are fortunate for the opportunity for the Symphonic Band to participate in the event. There are some that are unable to attend this year, and have elected to write a research project. However, twenty-three RCHS students are participating. Those students are:
FLUTE: Isabella Kocher Isabelle Williams CLARINET: Zoe Alexander Desiree Kurtz Natalia Mendoza BASS CLARINET: Hannah Weston CONTRABASS CLARINET: Bryce Klingler BASSOON: Austin Vaughn ALTO SAXOPHONE: RJ Englert Max McVicker Kale Wheeler TENOR SAXOPHONE: Noah McCorvey BARI SAXOPHONE: Jase Rusk TRUMPET: Adrian Bower Ryan Drummond Taylor Klingler Jillian Tyler TROMBONE: Ben Hout Bradley Sample EUPHONIUM: Mac Alexander Joshua Shoulders PERCUSSION: Rylan Craig Allison Howard Connor Summers The festival is held at Casey-Westfield High School. There is no cost associated with the Lincoln Trail Band Festival, aside from food money. Buffet Lunch: ($11.50/person) Chicken Strips, Pork BBQ, Oven Baked Potatoes, Green Beans, Salad/Bread Bar, Chocolate Cake, Cookies, Iced Tea, Lemonade Dinner: ($4.00/person) Casey’s Pizza, Soft Drinks THE ITINERARY FOR THE DAY IS AS FOLLOWS: 7:20-7:30...........MEET AT RCHS 7:30......................DEPART FOR CASEY, IL 8:30–9:00...........ARRIVE AT CASEY-WESTFIELD HIGH SCHOOL (306 E Edgar Ave. Casey IL) 9:00–11:15.........REHEARSAL (Breaks will be taken at guest conductor’s discretion) 11:15–12:45.......LUNCH (Richard's Farm) 12:45–4:30..........REHEARSAL (Breaks will be taken at guest conductor’s discretion) 4:30-5:30..............DINNER (pizza and then change into concert attire) 5:30........................WARM-UP AND TUNE 6:00.......................CONCERT 7:30.......................DEPART FOR OLNEY, IL 9:00.......................ESTIMATED RETURN TIME TO RCHS The concert is open to the public for $2.00 per person. After consulting with Mr. Wheeler & Mr. Anselment, I have decided to cancel the band performances for the January 3rd, and January 5th games. I have also talked to Mr. Weitkamp about a potential performance for select choir students to perform the national anthem during those games.
The band performs on Friday, January 4th for the Marshall vs. RCHS basketball game at Richland County High School. This is now a combined performance between the Orange and Black Bands. Please contact Mr. Jones at cjones@rccu1.net or via Remind101 should you have an unavoidable conflict with January 4th. The reason for combining the bands for the January 4th game, and removing the bands' participation for the January 3rd and 5th games is to allow the students more time to enjoy the winter break. The band performs with the dance teams at boys basketball games. The dance team is performing on the January 4th, which is why the band is performing on January 4th. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions. https://www.rchsbands.net/2018-2019-calendar.html The RCHS Bands are featured in the upcoming 2018 Winter Concert in the Slivia Auditorium on Sunday, December 9th. The concerts feature the Symphonic Band, Honors Wind Ensemble, and the Jazz Lab Band. The call-time for students is 2 PM. The concert begins at 3 PM.
Concert attire is one of the following:
Remember to set your clock forward one hour that day. The concert is free to the public. We hope to see you all there! For both the Black Band (Honors Wind Ensemble) and the Orange Black (Symphonic Band), the following schedule will be observed for all 2:30 PM & 7:45 PM games:

My name is Christopher Jones, director of bands at Richland County High School.
The 3rd payment of $200 per person for the 2019 Disney World trip was due Monday, November 5th. For those that have not yet made the payment, please drop off a check no later than Monday close of business so that we may pay the travel company. Checks should be made out to the RCHS Music Department. Also, please notate that the check is for the 3rd Disney Payment. RCHS Choir and Band Student Account balances and statements are available on CutTime.net, which sends statements to your personal email. If you have not received a statement from CutTime, please visit the RCHS Bands website for instructions on how to setup an account. Instructions may be found at www.rchsbands.net under the CutTime tab. You may also find information regarding the 2019 Disney World trip under www.rchsbands.net. Not yet included under CutTime are the candy bar fundraisers from October, or the Century Resources fundraiser. We have not yet received word from Century Resources on how much profit the students have earned. We know how much money each student has raised through the candy bar fundraiser, but we are unable to enter the information into CutTime due to a glitch with CutTime itself. We are working with the developers to get that issue resolved. If you or your child sold candy bars in October, feel free to contact us for that information. Please feel free to contact me should you have further questions. My phone number is (618) 393-2191 ext. 3137. I may also be reached at cjones@rccu1.net. Thank you for your time. 2018 Olney Christmas Parade - Saturday, Nov. 24th The Olney, IL Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, November 24th at 6:30 PM. The schedule for the combined Symphonic Band, Honors Wind Ensemble, and colorguard is as follows:
5:30 PM.............Meet at RCHS in holiday festive wear (no uniforms) & load 5:50 PM.............Walk from the school to parade line-up at the intersection of Scott St. & East St. 6:10 PM.............Set in parade block at parade location 6:30 PM.............Parade step-off 7:00 PM.............Estimated meet-up with buses near Eagleson's Car Dealership 7:15-7:30 PM....Estimated return to RCHS I recommend that all students layer up underneath to stay warm. Wear holiday related items, or at the very least wear lots of green and red! Good morning, RCHS Bands.
I have included the rostes for both the Fall '18 Orange and Block Basketball Bands. Please take note of which ensemble you have been assigned. Also review the performance schedule for your respective bands. Your coaches, parents, and employers need to be aware of conflicts as soon as possible. If you are simply not able to attend a basketball game to which you were assigned, contact someone in the other band and arrange for a swap. Both students needs to fill out the online form. This includes those that have to miss a game because they are on the basketball team or the cheer team. Please don't wait until you are a few days away from a game to make the swaps. Take care of it this week so that you won't run into complications later.
