2021 Effingham Marching Hearts Invitational on October 16th

The 2021 Effingham Marching Hearts Invitational is scheduled for Saturday, October 16th in Effingham, IL. This is our last field show competition for the season.

Please make sure to bring the following items:
  • Masks
  • Department shirt
  • Department shorts
  • Black crew socks
  • Drillmasters
  • 1 quart water cooler filled with water
  • Roughly $10-20 in cash for dinner & snacks (lunch is provided)
  • Sweatshirt or light jacket, pants, & comfortable shoes. It gets cold!

The schedule for the day is as follows:
8:30 am.................Call-time at RCHS for all Marching Tigersa
8:40 am.................Rehearsal in stadium 
11:00 am...............Load equipment on trailer
11:45 am...............Lunch provided by the Olney Music Boosters
12:20 pm...............Buses arrive at RCHS, exit 21
12:30 pm...............Depart for Effingham, IL
2:00 pm.................Arrive at Effingham High School (1301 W. Grove Ave)
2:10 pm.................Unload instruments, & equipment
3:30 pm.................Mental warm-up at trailer in full uniform
3:55 pm..................Meet event guides
4:10 pm..................Leave for physical warm-up
4:20 pm..................Physical warm-up
4:35 pm..................Move to musical warm-up
4:45 pm..................Musical warm-up

2021 RCHS, ERHS, & WRHS Band Alumni Night

RCHS Bands will provide the music for all band alumni. If you are an alum that no longer has an instrument, flip folder, or lyre, we would be happy to help provide those items. However, we are limited on equipment, so instruments are first come, first serve.

Band alumni will meet the Marching Tigers in the rehearsal hall (room 155). Please enter though the double doors located in the circle drive, or through the commons.

Alumni will march with the band to and from the building to the stadium, and will perform in the stands when the ball isn't in play (time-outs, and between quarters). Alumni won't march during pregame or halftime this year.

Alumni from RCHS and ERHS, please wear an orange shirt. Alumni from WRHS wear blue.

The schedule for the night is as follows:

5:15 pm........................Call-time for RCHS ERHS, & WRHS band alumni in room 137 (rehearsal hall/exit 21)

6:20 pm........................Drumline leaves for the stadium

6:40 pm........................Marching Tigers march to the stadium

6:50 pm........................Pre-game (Star-Spangled Banner & Fight Song)

7:00 pm........................Game begins (stand-tunes & half-time show. 3rd quarter off for concessions)

9:20 pm........................Estimated end to the football game

3rd Annual RCMS & St. Joe 8th Grade Band Night

8th Grade Band Night at RCHS on October 22nd, 2021

We are excited to announce the third annual 8th Grade Band Night at the RCHS vs. Robinson football game at Richland County High School on Friday, October 22nd. 8th Grade band students from St. Joseph Catholic School & Richland County Middle School are invited to perform a portion of the half-time performance, and to perform in the stands with the RCHS Marching Tigers. Interested students may contact Mr. Combs (RCMS), or Mrs. Pottorff (St. Joe) for more details.

Uniform: St. Joe or RCMS school shirts (blue/white or orange/black), jeans, and tennis shoes. Marching Tigers wear the uniform.

Equipment: Your instrument & flip folder

Music: provided by RCHS Bands to St. Joe & RCMS once names have been submitted
  • Time-Out Tunes
  • Holiday
  • Your middle school time-out tunes!

5:00 pm.……….………….Call-time for all RCHS Marching Tigers members & change into uniform.

5:20 pm.………….……….Parents drop off 8th Grader students at the RCHS band room (RCHS entrance 21)

5:30 pm……………………Rehearse in the band room

6:20 pm........................Drumline joins the football team for warmup at the stadium

6:20 pm…………………..Set parade block and march to the stadium. 8th Grade band students in the back of the parade block.

6:50 pm……………………Pre-game (Star-Spangled Banner, School Song, followed by the tunnel)

7:00 pm……………………Game begins (stand-tunes & half-time show. 3rd quarter off for concessions)

Half-time Performance: The band will perform a selection of pep band tunes on the field.

9:20 pm……………………Estimated end to the football game

Please feel free to bring money for concessions. The band takes a break over the 3rd quarter.

Parent Pick-Up: Parents may meet their students outside the band room after the game.

2023 Disney World & Cocoa Beach Trip Q&A

Hello, St. Joe, RCMS, RCHS Bands friends, family, and students! My name is Christopher Jones, director of bands at Richland County High School with information regarding upcoming Disney World Parent Q&A meeting.

The 2023 Disney World & Cocoa Beach trip for students enrolled in band or choir during the 2022-2023 school year is scheduled for Tuesday, October 12th. At that time, we will discuss payment structure, and the trip itinerary. The meeting will take place in the Richland County Performing Arts Center at 6 pm on October 12th. No payment is needed at that time; however, we ask that everyone wears a mask for the meeting.

The Newton Marching Eagles Classic & the Marching Maroons Band Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. The Newton Marching Eagles Classic takes place in the morning, followed by the Marching Maroons Band Festival, which is an evening competition. Here are the details for the two events...

The Marching Tigers compete in the Panther Marching Band Festival at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL on Saturday, September 25th, 2021.

The packing list includes...

  • Masks (required at all times when not performing or eating/drinking)
